Psychology Services

Ms. Susan Shaw, MPTS staff psychologist, conducts psycho-educational and/or social history assessments, provides counseling, and is proactive in using preventive measures to assist teachers and parents in developing interventions and strategies to meet the needs of students.

Special Notice


CMS School Psychology Department will host a Parent Clinic on Friday, November 1st at Lincoln Heights Academy (1900 Newcastle Street, Charlotte, NC 28216) to assist parents who would like to consult with someone about their child. CMS School Psychologists will be available by appointment to offer parents guidance on how to manage challenging children’s issues, such as anxiety, bullying, peer conflicts, or other social and emotional issues which can impact academic performance. Call //980-343-0389// or email //parent.clinic@cms.k12.nc.us// to schedule your free 45 minute consultation between 7:30 am-3:30 pm. Appointments will be filled on a first come basis. Consultation is by appointment only. Childcare and translation services are available upon request.

Ms. Janet Kraft, MPTS school counselor,develops and implements developmentally appropriate programs that support students in their efforts to become academically successful. Her services include:

School Guidance Curriculum: Guidance Lessons, Individual Counseling, Group Counseling

Individual Student Planning: 504 Coordinator, Intervention Team Facilitator, 5th grade Registration for Middle School, Promotion/Retention

Responsive Services: Crisis counseling, Holiday Assistance, McKinney-Vento Liaison, Community Resources

System Support: Staff Training, Administrative Support Team, Bullying Prevention, School Leadership Team
