Million Minutes Summer Reading Program

Join the fun and kick off the summer with the Million Minutes Summer Reading Program! Our program encourages students to read all summer long, which helps them maintain and improve their literacy levels to keep them on track for the upcoming year! This program includes all of our students, even our rising kindergarteners! It also gives students a chance to raise money for our school!

Getting Started!

Decide on a goal of 20, 30 or 60 minutes of reading a day over the summer!

Ask grandparents, parents and even friends and neighbors to sponsor you. Donors can give by cash or check payable to MPTS PTA. All donations are tax deductible.

Return your pledge form by Friday, June 6th to join the fun.

All students are encouraged to participate in the program whether or not they collect pledges. Every student who participates will receive an MPTS Bookmark and a raffle ticket for a chance to win some great prizes in the fall!

Keep Track of Your Reading

Once you have set your goal, beginning on June 11th, keep track of your reading progress with the Million Minutes Tally Sheet. Read to yourself, read to your little brother or sister. Parents reading to their students counts too!

Over the Summer
Read 1,200 minutes (20 hours) and earn a FREE Kids IceDream from Chick-fil-A. Take your Tally Sheet, showing that you have read 20 hours, to the Woodlawn Chick-Fil-A and present it at the register for your FREE Kids IceDream!

Read 3,000 minutes (50 hours) over the summer, and receive a FREE Homework Pass in the fall!

Fall Fun
All participants who return their pledge forms and tally sheets in the fall will receive an MPTS Bookmark AND be entered into the Million Minutes Raffle Drawing, which will take place on Reading Celebration Day.
The number of raffle tickets a student has entered in the drawing is determined by how many minutes that student reads - the more minutes read, the more tickets earned (up to 10).

The top reader from each grade will be recognized with prizes!

There will be a total of 20 Raffle prizes this year!

Those students who read 5000 minutes or more over the summer will receive special recognition on Reading Celebration Day, an invitation to a VIP Pizza Party at school, and an additional FREE homework pass!
